iPhone 11: Everything We Know
Tomorrow is iPhone day - the day when Apple takes the wraps off of the long-rumored iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. I’ve gone through all of the leaks, all of the rumors, and have a definitive list of everything we THINK we know about the 2019 iPhone lineup.
Let’s start with the iPhone 11 - this phone will be the successor to the budget-conscious iPhone XR. It’ll come in at the same 6.1-inch footprint, have the same LCD display instead of an OLED model like on the higher end pro models, but the rest should be totally new. This iPhone 11 model is expected to pack the same latest and greatest Apple processor as found in the Pro models the new A13. On the back is the addition of a second camera in this new squared off-camera design. The iPhone XR currently has a standard lens, and the 11 is expected to pack either a telephoto or ultrawide angle lens to accompany what’s there now. The phone may also come in some new color options like lavender and green.
The iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max will come in two similar sizes, sticking with the same 5.8 and 6.5-inch screen sizes. The front of the phone is rumored to look identical to the XS series, while the back gets the same squared-off camera area with three lenses: rumored to be packed with a standard focal length lens, telephoto, and an ultra-wide-angle lens. We’ve heard numerous reports that the cameras will be the big star of this year’s iPhone lineup, with enhanced image processing and machine learning software that is set to take on the standard set by Google’s Pixel 3, like night site for example. Other improvements include the standard battery and processor improvements, an enhanced true depth camera system with a wider angle Face ID unlocking, and better water resistance. Late breaking reports indicate bi-lateral wireless charging may or may not make an appearance at tomorrow’s event.
