Now this is all great but, what about the real deal. Was this device over hyped, was this disappointing, is the iPad an iFail? Well here all my thoughts.

So was I disappointed? Well in a way, Yes I was. I was expecting this tablet to have a completely brand new design. I thought it would be completely new looking, not looking like a blown up iPod Touch. I also thought this was going to have a completely new OS, not just the iPhone OS 3.2 which we were already expecting. But, there is something positive  be hind this. I still think the design is very nice. It is elegant, and familiar to a lot of users. Steve Jobs says over 70 million people know how to use an iPod Touch or an iPhone (not even inducing there friends who have played with it) so this UI should very similar and easy to navigate.

Now I also know there is a lot of hate for the iPad already. Event though only a very select few have actually touched it, people still think they can base everything they know off of  presentations. Now, I think that a major aspect to think about is how Apple is almost creating their own category for the iPad. When Apple released the iPhone, there was already a somewhat of a  Smart Phone market. Essentially Apple has to create their own product line, there own category for this. This is another reason people are slamming the iPad. They just don’t know where it fits in yet.

Now iBooks is another very important aspect to the iPad. Not only does the iPad run all the App Store apps, but it also doubles as an eReader. Now at the price point the iPad is set, it is really a direct challenge to the kindle. Why spend $450 on a Kindle DX, where for $50 more you are getting the full color experience, plus do much more.  But on the other hand, the Kindle is not designed to do anything but be an eReader. Even though Amazon is attempting to lunch its own  version of the app store, this still is a pretty close match

Now another major seller for not only me being a student, but as someone using iWork alot would be that iWork (Apple’s work suite, word processor, keynote etc) will be a full function on the iPad. That means that you can do keynote presentations right on the iPad. This is HUGE! You can also connect it to a projector. This its self, shows that it would be worth the $500 + to own one.

Now will I be buying one? Probably. 3G? No I have an iPhone for that. But that is ok! Apple is not trying to get you to switch to the iPad, they are just providing this as an alternative. Now why will I get it:

• iWork Compatible
• Runs all Apps in the App Store
• Aggressive Price Point
• I am a student, put ALL my books on this
• So on…

Now can you guys picture this: All your books, whether you’re in college, high school, etc, are on this, in eBook format. No more having to lug books around, no more back backs, all you would need is an iPad. The screen is definitely big enough to read on. The iPad would be great! This itself is cheaper to get than all my text books. You are actually saving money in this investment.

Now my Mom and Dad have always thought the Macs were nice, they would love to use them, but they use PCs at work, and at home. They just really haven’t found the need to switch, or the money to really switch. No as I push them there, the iPhone and the iPod Touch are also something I want them to get. My dad loves the apps, but doesn’t want an iPhone, he says it’s “To Complicated” as for my Mom, she is actually happy with her LG Voyager. Now you might have remembered my post earlier on the Voyager found here. The iPod Touch is nice, she loves the apps,” But I already have an iPod” she says. She’s contempt.

But this is the first time they both want an Apple Tablet and are willing to spend the money. Why? A big factor is the price! We can buy 2 of these for $1,000 and save more money than having to buy at least 1 MBP. Now there are also separate reasons which are what makes the iPad so interesting.

Mom- She loves reading. She reads before she goes to bed,  when relaxing, anytime she can, she loves it! But her eyes start to hurt after a while when you have to squint to read the small print in the book. On the iPad, you can change the font, and adjust the size. No need to buy books from the stores anymore. This is the main reasons she wants an iPad

Dad- also would love an iPad. He is head of Sales of a local catering company here in LA, and if he could have this with him when seeing clients, it would be great. He could get his email, look at contact info, and of course browse the web when he’s coming home from Downtown LA sitting in bumper to bumper traffic. And the other thing he would love this for is GPS. Now let me explain, my dad still uses the old Thomas Guide Book. Ya, very old. He wants a GPS system but they are to pricey and to small. This is where the iPad comes in, Because the iPad has a huge 9.7 inch display and that it runs all apps in the App Store (including the TomTom app) he would have the ultimate GPS.

Now those are  my thoughts.I am not an Apple Fanboy, but just trying to state my thoughts. Again this is a first gen device. It has a ton of potential. I can’t wait to see the improvements and can’t wait to see it launch. The will iPad be an iWin or an iFail?
