I am a cross platform kind of guy. I have run on all the basic Operating System;s such as WIndows XP, Vista, OS X, and even a little Linux Flavors. But, I have boiled down OS X as my main OS. And I am very happy, but I still want to play around with all the other Platforms out there, wether they be Household brands like Microsoft;s Windows OS or something along the lines of Linux that is open source. Now any of you who have tuned in latley to the live stream (just look at the Live Video button at the top of this post.) now that I have the HP Mini currently hooked up via VGA to a Samsung 19″ monitor, I live being able to see everything at a clance of a big screen and not have to look down at a labtop display that is less then half the reselution of the external monitor. But, I still want to be able to run everything else and do it, well virtually. There are many diffrent Applications outhere for any platform, that will essentially let you run an full OS live in real time, just liek a real physical computer was installed and running that pparticualr OS, but this sofwtare does it virtually. The two main compedetors on the market at this poitn for OS X, are VMware Fusion and Parallels desktop, Everyone always asks me witch one I receomend, so I thoughtI would explain my thoughts.

Parallels: Now, the first virtual machine software I used was Parallels Desktop and, lets just say it wasn’t love at first site. I had many issues with Parallels. I had computability issues with almost all my hardware. I also had a lot of software compatibly issues as well. Things weren’t looking good ad I was about ready to throw in the towel. As I continued to use it It would sometimes not start the virtual machine (witch was XP). It would also tend to freeze a lot! And one day, I went to start it up and it would just bounce and didn;t open. I tried updating it and tried all the little tricks I could find. And I was like “That’s it. I’m done” Parallels was a big hit with consumers, but we had a pretty rocky relationship.

VMware- Now the company VMware has been making virtual machine software way longer than anyone in the market. Even though in the beging there software didn;t seem to get a lot of hub-ub , they still had a great quality software, and you got your bang for your buck. Now, when I fiannly decided to buy VMware Fusion. I was a little hesidant to go out and oay almost $100. I had to try it first. So, I went ahead and tried the trial, and sure enough it was great, Now, I am not going to say this is the best peice of software I have ever used, or it had no bugs, but It is probably thr best virtual machine software for OS X at least at this point. It was very stable and it handeled all my hardware and software good. Even my usb devices, and MB a/v were recognized imediatly. And, XP ran very nice. So I was convinec. Now the issues I have had would be the freezing when i am doing some complicated processes. It did once actualy cause an OS X Kernal Panic. Overall it is good.

Now, I think that both pieces of software do have promise. But, I think that right now it todays technology market and economy, VMWare Fusion is the way to go. It also runs Open Source Operating System’s very good. I have run a couple of Linux distros’ on it an I haven;t seen to many problems with it. So in this software match out. VMware delivers the K.O. it OS X Virtual Machine Software,
